Cellar restaurant in Inca

This is a beautiful place to have lunch. Patti is on her way from the 'servicos'. We literally had to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. all I could think about was Gordon's mom, Betty, and her reaction to such a thing!!!! At least we could see everything!! Gordon is taking the photo. If you look at the back of the room in the other photo, we are sitting in front of the fire. Very warm and cozy.

Happy Birthday's Lukester, Dave Savard and Tammy!!!

HI there everyone. Apologies to Dave and Luke for being later with your birthday greetings. I had a hard time getting smiley face out of the wine cellar. When they say wine cellar, they are not kidding. This is a resturaunt in Inca, a small town aobut 40 minutes from here. We were there on Wednesday doing some shopping and hanging about. Patti and Hans are on the lookout for a couple of lazyboy type chairs for the living room and I bought new boots. Wait till you see them.....they are definately different. There are tons of boots and leather jackets to pick from. The prices are ok, but nothing much worth buying under a $100 Canadian. The quality is excellent. I expect my boots will last for at least 20 years. We had a great day. Dinner last night was wine with 5 different types of cheese, crackers and fruit. YUM YUM. Happy Birthday to you Tammy and say Hi to Robert and Teska for us.

Just a shot of one of the bbq's. The vending machine is for worms. Yes, I am standing there in awe, as I have never seen a vending machine for worms, ever, in my life. Live ones to boot. I watched that guy get them out. All different kinds too. Or you could just get a coke!!!

More festia stuff

So, like you would not believe it again! Sloan was one of the bands that played on Thursday night in Palma. So of course I had to go and talk to the band after the concert. I spoke with Chris Murphy. He was so funny. After he realized where I was from PEI all he could talk about was did I know his uncle in Georgetown and his mother's sister is married to one of the McLennans. He was too funny. He didn't want us to go. All he wanted to do was talk about PEI and his relatives. He was posing for photos and talking a blue streak to Patti and I. He was shaking hands with some of the girls that were at the concert and saying things to them like 'congratulations on your 12th birthday'. He was a scream. Andrew Scott is from PEI as well. Chris actually grew up in Halifax, but was born in PEI. He is a very nice down to earth guy. We only got one photo of the band.

The woman in the other photo was part of a group of people that we bbq'ed with. Literally, there is barrels cut in half, on stands, and everyone just bbqes and has fun, Cops everywhere and families and friends eating and sharing everything. Lots of wine and good fun. No worries. Everyone had the same agenda and we did not have any concerns about getting hassled or a fight breaking out. It definately makes for nice relaxed fun and of course, the weather helps. She was plying me with wine and her family was giving us food and 'figs with anise' wow, was that good. We were out till 4 in the morning but it was a great time. Notice the tower and the wall behind us.

We went for a large walk on Friday, during the day, and then watched the fireworks that night from the port. After hauling our asses out of bed this morning and leaving our floating hotel, we made it back to Calvia by noon.

Festes de Sant Sebastiá

We just got home from 2 days in Palma for the Sant Sebastian Feista. Thursday night was music and bbq in the plaza's. all you had to do was bring your own food and drink and the party was on!!!!! We stayed on 'Dripping Roast' again, this time for two nights. We had a blast. Steve, Mary, Theresa and Phillip came in for the fireworks on Friday night, as did Martin and Babs. All was good. I was thinking there is no way the fire works could be better than the ones in Souris....like I said there is no way they could be better.......but wow, was I surprised!!! Oh yea, made me eat my works fer sure!!! Great set of knockers on those doors eh¿¿¿¿¿¿

Nice photo of Eric and Patti. We were royally entertained by Eric, who is a master guitar and harmonica player, not to mention his incredible IQ, or is that mine were talking about....:-)....we had a ton of laughs. Ian and Pat are gone back to Scotland. As are Eric and Val, as of Monday. Val is using her fan to cool her jets cause we laughed so much we cried. (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it)



Oh yes, Patti talked to her mother this evening and she is back from her last trip to Toronto. She has her new coral eye and all is well. She goes for a check up in 6 months. She was a model patient with a great attitude! Pauline also said that there is bad weather in Fredriction? Snow and freezing rain...sounds more like January in Canada. later folks....

2 months today since we arrived.

Already it's two months since we arrived. Time is flying by. sorry, have been a bit slack with the blog this week. The photos are from Eric and Val Hagman's house (clients from Scotland), where we had dinner on Wednesday night. The other couple is Ian and Pat McDermid, also from Scotland. We had a delicious meal, lots of wine and tons of fun.

So the top left photo is Gordon and Pat, then Ian and I , Hans and I........having a Grand Marnier!!

We were at the huge 'Car boot Sale' today in Santa Maria. Managed to find a few bargains. Lots of stuff but everyone was trying to make their fortune. Now we are having a quiet evening at home and starting to plan a road trip on mainland Spain. Not sure exactly when, where or for how long but I think we will get it figured out. Hope all is well and so glad the weather is good. Even if it is weird, at least it shortens the dreaded part of the winter.

Happy Anniversary

We were having fun trying to get an official Anniversary picture!! We had a great dinner at home this evening. We called Molly and Terry to say Hi and Happy Anniversary!! That is who Patti is talking to on the telephone. They were the second best man and woman. We had an excellent time at our wedding and another excellent time at our 11th Anniversary! Happy Three Kings

Hello everyone

No photos today as the camera progaram is on the computer at home and we are still at Rosmary and Franz's house. They have taken their son and daughter on a ski holiday in northern Spain. Back home on Friday.

The weather here today is colder.....9ºC and it is suppose to get a bit cooler over the weekend. I suppose it is January....

We were in Palma today. Hans had to chnage the fuel filters on 'Dripping Roast'. Two great big diesel engines. The fuel filters were the size of a loaf of bread. Gordon was the tool man as Hansy was down in the hole....
Patti and I started Pilates today. Not bad....it was a beginners class but I have never done Pilates to music before. It surely was no Triona teaching the class. I am totally spoiled but I expected that. We will see how it goes....

Tomorrow is Three Kings.....this is when the Spanish really celebrate Christmas. We will meet Patti and Hans here in Santa Ponsa, pick up Jane, and then go to the beach as the Three Kings will be 'sailing' in around 6 and there will be a parade. The Kings then hand out gifts to the kids. I'm sure we will be on the wine by then.

Saturday is our 11th anniversery. Patti and Hans are taking us out to dinner. I think there will be some photos......

Where were we????

Sorry everyone, I did not do a very good job of explaining where we actually were on New Years Eve. We went in to Palma, and spent the late evening and early morning at Plaza Cort for the New Years Eve festival. About 500 men, women and children......everyone toting wine and champagne. People were shooting fireworks off above the crowd. It was a bit freaky at first but we got used to it. There was a live band a young and old danced the night away. It was much fun.

New Years eve

I guess I should have put this on first...my filing system is not working right yet....:-)......On New Years Eve, Gordon cooked salmon on a cedar plank, in our fireplace. another great meal.

More 2006

so the story continues...Notice that we are not out hiking today. We went for a Sunday drive instead. It is very windy here today, so we went to the ports to check the boats that Patti and Hans are responsible for. Lunch today was a bottle of french champange that Gordon received for his birthday from Martin and Babs, and then we cooked on 'the stone'. Similar to ours but electric and it had little trays underneath that you could toast and cook things on. YUM. It was great, just what we needed. As you can see, we had a grand time and the kids did a wonderful job of keeping us on the straight and narrow. We made it back to 'Dripping Roast' at about 3 am.
